The Friends of St. Joseph Dyer Church Preservation Society is a registered Indiana nonprofit corporation (incorporated June 5, 2026) and has filed its application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service. Until that status is granted, contributions cannot yet be treated as tax-deductible charitable donations.
In the meantime, supporters who wish to help our cause can do so by directly funding particular projects we are now embarking on — the canonical appeal, structural and masonry assessments, archival research, community outreach materials, and other concrete preservation work.
Please contact us at info@savestjosephdyer.org to discuss how your contribution can be applied toward a specific project. We will keep you informed as we receive our 501(c)(3) determination from the IRS.
To win our canonical appeal, we must demonstrate that the community can fund maintenance and operations for decades to come. Your donation directly weakens the case for closure.
Legal costs for filing and pursuing the canonical appeal to the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Clergy, including canon law attorney fees.
Masonry restoration, tuckpointing, structural repairs, and maintenance to keep the historic church building in excellent condition.
Utilities, insurance, and ongoing operating costs to prove that St. Joseph can sustain itself for years to come.
Because our 501(c)(3) status is still pending with the IRS, we are not yet able to open a bank account or accept online donations. Rather than collect funds we cannot yet properly receipt and steward, we invite supporters to help in a more direct way.

We will show you exactly where the need is and how your help will be put to work.
Once our 501(c)(3) determination is granted, we will open accounts and offer tax-deductible giving options. We will keep all our Friends informed the moment that happens.
